Holy Spring!

I've had my first true day of spring. And I am ecstatic! While the weather was warm yesterday, I didn't get to appreciate it after work. (Yes it makes for a lovely work day when it's warm & sunny, but I really want to enjoy it afterward.) Anywho... today I finished work early, made a quick stop at the Farmers Market (apples & tangerines & strawberries, oh my) & the bank, then set to work at home. I (mark this on your calendars, it's a big one) vacuumed my vehicle. That's twice now for 2006! (Keith likes to poke fun -- says I've already taken care of this vehicle more than my last. I've had this one since August 2005. The previous was purchased Spring of 1999.) After that & a quick break, I started my yard work!

That's the part that tells me it is certainly spring! My hands are aching & I smell of the outside. Ahh... (better not breath too deep though!) It took me several hours to clean up the planter boxes (the ones to replace the rail, not for the edibles) & the front hill. I started to clean up against the front of the house, but got distracted by discovering a nest of babies (possibly bunnies, didn't get a close look since I was a "rake's distance" away) & then it started to rain. I managed to get the tarp unloaded behind the back yard & quickly brought the rake & other items to the front porch before I got drenched.

:) Happy me.

(starts of strong & loud... turns into a whimper)

Thank goodness for Daylight Savings Time. More specifically for Sunday when the clocks finally change! I can't take the sunshine coming in my room so early! (I know, I know, I should be getting room darkening blinds. This morning when I was up early thinking about it, I was about to shop around & then noticed that the time would be changing...)

I am just so tired. I've been waking up so much throughout the night. Either for no reason, hearing something, or because it's too bright! It wouldn't be so bad if I could just roll over & fall back asleep. No, instead I lie there, my brain starts going, I think 'oh, it's almost time to get up.' Then I look at the clock: 2:25, 5:44, etc. UGH!) Hopefully Sunday will take out one factor. I still need to shop around for blinds though -- once the summer kicks in, then the outside lights at night are the issue...

So... what did you see?

I didn't get to see the whole show... probably the second half. (Although, I kept waking up, I should have just gotten up & watched it all.)

Heard them "oohing & ahhhing" on the Exploritorium site in CA.
They were amazed about the 'corona's' (is that like the drink?!?) & the 'diamond ring!'
Without knowing all the technical aspects, I think it was pretty amazing.
(I understand why they were "oohing & ahhing" & whistling too!)

It has been brought to my attention (again) that I'm slacking on my posts. Sorry, please forgive me. The last time I tried to post something Blogger wasn't up & running properly & I wasn't able to upload any pictures. Cause, in case you don't know, that's the only thing I feel I have to add.

Well, again, I'm trying to upload photos & Blogger isn't letting me. It's not my fault I tell you.

The seedlings are doing well. Most are growing and stretching toward the light. A rare few have died off, I'm hoping that aspect won't be growing in numbers. They definately make me feel like it's springtime.

That and the fact that we're actually going to have spring like temperatures this week! Do a little happy dance!

What A Day Can Bring!

It's amazing what a day can bring. Yesterday my snapdragon seeds looked like baby inch worms. (Not the white stuff, that's the Perlite. The itty bitty things.) Today, they actually resemble a plant! Cool isn't it!?!

Keith built me a stand to grow my flowers and veggies this year. Isn't it lovely?
I started planting some of my seeds at the beginning of the week.

I heard this little one all morning long tweeting away. Then I looked outside and realized what the tweeting must have meant... "Let me inside, it's freezing out here!"

Happy Gardening

I can't say I have much energy & zest for life at the moment. But then I haven't been able to work in the garden. That would explain why (in the summertime) I will work out there from the moment I get home 'til it is too dark to work anymore -- dinner put off and everything! That, and why my garden grows larger (& more blooms) each year! :)

We enjoyed some Chinese take out & some frozen cheese cake. It was delicious & relaxing. Oh, & who can forget the riveting game of Perfection next door. The boys kept getting worse, and I kept improving. (They say it's a gave for small hands... Excuses, excuses!)

In other news, can you tell I perfected creating links within my posts!?! I may have gone overboard, but hey, it's all about Joss, so it's okay! :)

Firefly is a wonderful, fabulous, wonderful (did I say that already) creation from the brilliant mind of Joss Whedon. If you know me at all, you know I'm a big fan of his. Scratching your head? Four little words for you... Buffy the Vampire Slayer! (Oh, and don't forget Angel. Then of course there's his movie credits: Whedon has written or co-written several movies including Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Toy Story, Alien: Resurrection, Titan A.E. and Ray Gun. )

Ahh, the memories... I can still remember sitting in the living room with my mom watching an old (not at the time of course) episode where Xander was captured by a high school teacher, who was really a giant praying mantis! I think she was hooked from that moment on! Although I by far exceed her excitement.

My latest love of Joss Whedon's is his movie Serenity! When the Firefly series was cancelled he was bound and determined to keep the story going. He did that finally with Serenity! I highly recommend seeing the series & the movie. (What other movie gets an entire season to set up the characters for you?) The only thing that would be better, would be a season two for Firefly! :)

Just to clarify

Apparently I wasn't too clear in a previous post... (sorry)
Keith has a piece of steel in his leg. (It's the tear drop shape on the x-ray.) It came from the metal wedge he was using to split wood.
(After 2 people asked directly "so what's in his leg?" I figured it needed clarification.)

He's trying to take it easy. The pain isn't so much a nuisance, but with his movement (we believe) it is bleeding on & off again. But hey, that's what bandages are for!

Keith to the rescue!

Yesterday I came home from work to find Keith cutting up the horrible tree that landed on my garden this winter! Yippee!

I was thrilled to discover my weather vein survived (and took a souvenir from it's battle!) The planter box on the other hand, didn't do as well. I'm going to attempt to use it, time will tell if it holds water though!

I was also pleased to find some of my first blooms for the year!

Now my inside blooms have some rivals for my affection!
