A good weekend... and it's only half way done

The last two days were rather eventful. :)

Last night we went to the movies for a "
Great Cheap Date" at the Plaza. (If you're ever in town for a few days, it's a 'Top Ten' thing to do. In my book anyway. I fell in love with the place about 10 years ago. I still have that first impression formed in my head... Initially it seemed kind of small, only 2 theatre screens, but once you're at your seat you realize everybody has a table in front of them with plenty of room to stretch out. But wait, it got even better -- order a delicious gob, or better yet, a meal complete with popcorn & nachos with cheese! Salivating yet? The cost may have gone up since then, but it's still well worth it. And now they get much newer releases to keep up with the "competition" - I say sarcastically.) Not that we needed a reason to go, but often plans to do so get pushed to the side. I wanted it to be an early anniversary date, since a weeknight definitely wouldn't be likely to happen. It was a good night. :)

Then today we went downtown to "
Scott's By Dam" for THEE BEST tacos around. (Not 'the' but 'thee'! Say it with me "Thee Best!") Another "Top Ten" in my book. This bar is a few paces away from the War Memorial for you hockey fans out there. But if you're going for a taco, there will be nothing but standing room (if that) prior to a game. While there, we came up with some questions that had to be answered upon my return home. (Internet search engines are fabulous things!) Let's see how well you do with the answers off the top of your head...

1. Being in a bar there's lots of sports related items on the wall. One of which was a Steeler's license plate. Seeing this reminded me of a question I asked Keith a while ago about the emblem. We sort of had an idea, but couldn't come up with specifics. So, what's the story behind the Steeler's logo? If you have an idea, post it, then find the answer
here. (I actually found a couple of sites with useful info. but this one is short & sweet.)

2. Which then lead to the boys talking about the different football teams & their names/helmets. Such as the 49ers >> Californian gold seekers; as well as others that I can't recall at the moment. But the team in question is The Browns. Panthers are panthers, Eagles are eagles, Browns are huh??? So the question is, where did the team's name come from? Find your answer
here.

3. The last question came about from our food. We had a Heinz ketchup bottle on the table & started talking about the pickle logo. How does a pickle go with ketchup? In a round about way, here's
an answer. Doesn't exactly answer "why a pickle?" but you get the idea. If you have more info that that which I provide, please, let me know. Inquiring minds over here!

So for being Saturday evening, this has already been a better weekend then most. Not that others are bad mind you -- well deserved down time -- just nothing worthy of blogging about!

Hope everyone else out there has a fabulous weekend too!!!

Florida

Dawn & her gang just returned home from their Florida vacation. (The one we didn't go on in lieu of house projects.) They had met up with Keith's folks who left on the 15th for their 'winter migration.' Seeing all their lovely pictures with bright sunshine & relaxation made me a bit envious. It certainly makes me look forward to next year when we all join them again. It lead me to look up our pictures from last year. I realized that I had videos that I never posted, because at the time, I didn't know how (just images). With that I thought I'd share some with you -- hopefully you'll get a laugh or too like I have.

*Hint* Click on the links to return to the original post for more info. on it. Possibly before you watch the videos.
*Disclaimer* Oh & they may be loud, so lower the volume bar on each one before they start & adjust accordingly. (I won't be held accountable for waking anyone else in the middle of the night!)

The "fabulous" fountains in Silver Springs. (I'm most amused by the head tapping -- DAWN!)

This is one I actually didn't mention from Juniper Springs -- the high powered hand dryers in the bathhouses. (I think the video speaks for itself.)

Here's the bat eating watermelon I referred to from Animal Kingdom.

The Magic Kingdom's fireworks that made Dawn cry because they were all for her!

And the hopping water in Epcot.

Finally, our last day visiting the other resorts to say farewell.

Injuries of the week

Nothing exciting to report on this front.
Crappy weather... (What else is new?)
So instead I'll tell you about a few problems.
:)
Keith's been working on machines during the off season.
Repairs, maintenance, that sort of thing.
Well, Monday a crow bar disagreed with him.
Hit him in the head.
Not the pointy end, fortunately!
Gave him a good cut on the top of his noggin though.
Another day he had a mishap with air pressure.
A part of a machine hit him in the chin when the pressure made it fly off.
Later he realized it did something to his inner-ear as well.
He said it felt as though there was water in his ear.
Irritating, but not as much as the cut on his head.
So, that's about the extent of it.
(I hope.)
May he not have another injury for a long time!

Family Watchdog

My cousin's husband sent this site to me & I think it is one for all to see...

Family Watchdog is a site developed by John Walsh (America's Most Wanted) to help us keep our kids safe. The best thing is that you can show your children the criminals' pictures and see how close these people live to your home or school.

If you do nothing else, go to the site, enter your address & just to see how many criminals are in your neighborhood. Scary, but it can be a powerful tool.

I hope it is useful for you & your loved ones.

Happy Belated Birthday...

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
...to me, apparently.

(huh?)

When I returned from work today, Keith was installing a garbage disposal.
As he was cleaning up, he called out "Happy Birthday!"
In my confusion I asked,
"You mean last year right?"
(Not exactly the 'early' kind you'd aim for.)
"Or 2 years ago." he replied.
Intresting.
But hey, I'll take what I can get.
Better than this aching head I've got.

Not worthy

Sorry people, I've nothing worthy of posting about.
Keith's been sick for nearly a month now.
I've not been feeling so well myself...
After the New Year I haven't been able to get enough sleep.
I wake up tired. I'm tired all day long.
Yet at night I end up waking up several times or toss & turn throughout.
My head has been aching. Sinus pressure building.
Is it the weather? (Definitely coordinates with precipitation.)
Or am I finally getting Keith's unnamed problem.
(This week he IS on antibiotics. Hopefully that will nip it in the bud.)

My big excitement since New Year's
was discovering a brand of socks that actually fit.
yippee
(Gold Toe in case you're curious.)
I WAS quite thrilled when I made my discovery.
But now I'm too tired to feel that same level of enthusiasm.
Oh, and I'm cold.
This weather is just too strange.
We're 14 degrees colder than yesterday
(which was WAY colder than the day before)
& that doesn't count wind chill.
